Our Secura 1500 Watt Electric Hot Air Fryer 3.4 Qt, 4.2 Qt & 5.3 Qt Review
Our Secura Electric Hot Air fryer review should start from describing what the product is and what it is not. First, the Secura Air fryer works by circulating hot air around your food at a very high speed, along with a top grill to fry your foods to a delicious and crispy level with little or no oil.
Looking at the Secura, it is more manual than digital. It features two manual control knobs for easy settings and control. It has a 4-liter capacity, enough food to go around for the whole family but comes only in black color. It weighs about 10.3lbs and measures 14.8 x 12.4 x 13.1 inches in dimension, boasts a whole 1500 watts of power and has a temperature range between 180F to 390F.
Even though the Secura is not digitized like many of its competitors, it still offers some pretty good features that may make it the perfect addition to your kitchen.
Secura Air Fryer Features
The Secura Air Fryer provides you with quite a few features. In fact, it provides you with all these features at a pretty reasonable rate. That is the main reason it is one of the bestselling products in the Air Fryer market.
First comes capacity. The Secura provides you with a 3.5, 4 or 5 Liter capacity, the 5 lt is the same size as the Philips Avance XL model that provides you with a capacity of around 5 Liters.
Again, The Secura is not a digital Air Fryer. This makes it comparatively more durable. Durability is a really plus point when it comes to modern electronics. That is why this point becomes important.
While it isn’t digital, that doesn’t mean it lags behind on technology. It uses hot air with a rapid air flow system to prepare your food properly at the fastest speed.
This model also provides you with temperature control, which is a really great feature to be able to properly cook all the foods you want to cook.
Again, the Secura also has a 60 minute timer with an automatic turn off feature. This means that you can pre-plan and leave. You don’t have to babysit your Air fryer all the time it is working.
Finally, it is not too expensive. It is priced in the low-mid range, making it a good choice economically for middle class families.
Secura Air Fryer Food
While searching the Internet for information on this air fryer I came across this review which I thought summed up the food aspect very well:
“I’ve reheated restaurant steak fries and cooked homemade chicken fingers so far, and I was pleased with both. I hate throwing away food. When we eat out, I ALWAYS have leftovers; at a typical casual place, I probably bring home, on average, about a third of my food … including lots of fries. Unfortunately, reheated fries (indeed, reheated fried things generally) are merely edible … never good. The first thing I cooked was left-over steak fries from a national chain.
The machine achieved what a standard oven and a microwave are unable to: reheated fries that are crisp outside and hot and tasty inside … and no mush … at all. (The fries didn’t stay great for long — I had at best 10 good minutes to enjoy them; but I suspect that’s not a shortcoming of the machine, but a fact of life of the chemistry and physics of a twice-cooked potato product. I’m not holding that against the machine … just treating it as something I should keep in mind going forward.)
After that, I dredged five chicken tenderloins in seasoned flour, immersed them in beaten egg, then pressed seasoned panko on them. Results after about 17 minutes (flipping twice): completely-cooked through; juicy; and a crunchy, browned crust. Zero complaints on the chicken.
What I think is best about it: I do like fried foods (fries, cheese sticks, battered veggies, battered chicken and fish), but I HATE frying at home, because the house smells fried for three days (not to mention it’s dangerous to have six inches of 400-degree oil atop the range); … and baking / microwaving frozen pre-fried food is a sad substitute for food that’s actually fried … freshly. There’s no good way (with standard kitchen appliances) to have good deep-fried food at home. THIS machine addresses that problem. That’s what makes it worth having — finally, o can have quality “fried” food at home … safely and without smelling the oil for the three subsequent days.”
How to Use the Secura Air fryer
The air fryer was designed in a way to make its use simple and uncomplicated for the average user. That is one of the reasons why the design focused on manual simplicity rather than digitization. To use the air fryer, you only need to follow these steps;
– Remove the drawer, it’s removable and non-stick.
– Load your food in the drawer.
– Slide it back in.
– Set the timer and temperature, then relax until your food is cooked.
– When ready to clean just remove the basket and clean with warm soapy water. The basket is non-stick and dishwasher safe.
Is the Secura Air Fryer Worth It?
Whenever someone asks me this question, I think they expect a yes or no answer but its not always that simple. It might be, and it might not be. This actually depends on you as everyone has a different specific need. The best we can do from here is to look at the most common needs and judge based on those, but in everyone’s case it’s always case specific. So technically, it can be a good or a bad choice for you based on your exact needs.
You might find that it serves all your needs perfectly at the lowest possible price, in such a case it is the best model out there for you. You must understand that your specific needs make you different as a person, a unique identity. And that implies that any model might be specifically the best for you and that solely depends on your exact needs.
Secura Air Fryer Tips
Most people are happy to cook with oil but using this, there’s no need. Just add a bit towards the end to flavor and get the food extra tasty. Also keep in mind that you can use a little butter instead of oil.
Shake everything so as to let the air reach all the food surfaces.
Don’t over crowd the basket as once again you want the air to reach every surface.
Keep a pair of silicone coated tongs nearby to flip stuff.
If you leave food inside the closed unit, the basket, too long it steams and doesn’t stay crisp so take it out once it’s done.
Secura Electric Hot Air Fryer Customer Reviews
“This air fryer is very quiet compared to others. All our food is cooking perfect. The basket holds a large amount of food. It takes up a small amount of space on the counter and is shorter than those huge, oversized fryers. The sides are barely warm when in use. I’m very happy with this machine and the classy design.” …. “Never heard about air fryers until recently. Did my research and decided upon the Secura 1500. First time using it I was a little skeptical and not sure what I was doing. So, I first tried something easy. Sweet potato fries, how hard could that be. Well, not only was it easy to do, but the results were beyond my expectations. Truly did last and feel like deep fried potatoes.
Then I went on to bigger and better. Did a Cornish hen. Never cooked one in my life, so again I wasn’t sure. Followed the instructions in a recipe book I purchased and success, again! Then I said, OK let’s try a pizza. Within 10 minutes prep and 12 minutes cooking I had a great pizza for two. It was so good I tried it again 2 more times using different toppings. I’m hooked. So, then I figured let’s break the winning streak with an experiment.
I purchased a 5lb. frozen turkey breast. I let it thaw, brushed some lite oil mixed with spices on the bird and placed it in the basket. The only problem was the bird was a little too fat and wouldn’t let me close the basket without cutting about an inch off the breast. Once I did that, away she went and about 55 minutes later I had the most delicious, tender and moist turkey dinner. This bird was enough for 4+ adults.
Overall, I find this style of cooking the easiest and cleanup is a breeze. Most dinner portions are good for 2 – 4 people depending on what you’re making. Oh, did I tell you how much I love this thing? Best appliance I purchased. Well, add that to the Secura milk frother – love that one too, for my after-dinner lattes.” …. Read More
