Our GoWISE USA 8-in-1 Electric Air Fryer Review
Air fryers are rapidly growing in popularity as an alternative for the deep fat fryer, so we are going to look at two GoWISE 8-in-1 Air Fryers in this review. As the technology evolves we have products like the ones above that reached 4th generation and bring some improvements over the older models.
The main selling point of air fryers in general is that they use hot air to cook instead of a hot oil bath which makes frying healthier and lot less messy than with traditional fryers or pan frying. You still want to add a little oil or butter if you want to get that crunchy outside typical of deep fryers but in no way close to what you would use in an immersion fryer.
What Comes in the Box
In addition to the unit itself, the package will include a nonstick baking pan, a manual, and a 38-page recipe booklet.

What Can The GoWISE 8-in-1 Air Fryer do?
The GoWISE line of air fryers uses Rapid Air Circulation technology to provide a fried food result with little or no added oil. That’s the part they pretty much all do. The unit circulates hot air in all directions around the ingredients to cook the food to perfection, all while you do other things to prepare your meal.
The GoWise 8-in-1 has a number of unique features, including digital, programmable cooking settings. You can choose from 8 presets, including “warm-up,” “chips,” “chicken,” “shrimp,” “steak,” “meat,” “cake,” and “fish.” Yes, that’s right, it will even bake a cake.
This is a big deal because many air fryers don’t have temperature control settings. You drop the thing in and it’s “one size fits all”. If you find that a particular thing gets over cooked or under cooked in those machines, there’s not much you can do except not cook them anymore.
Not the case with the GoWise. You can keep tweaking until you’ve got the perfect cook for basically whatever you put in it, meaning this is a great option for someone who’s planning to cook a wide variety of things with the machine… rather than just fried chicken. Which reminds me… It does more than just fry foods. It can also grill, roast, and bake. If you want to bake a cake, you can purchase a non-stick baking pan accessory that’s made just for these models. Of course, you can also use them to heat up previously cooked food.
Depending on what you want to do with them you can also set them and forget them. They are equipped with a timer that you set and when the time is over the machine stops and gives you a sound signal to let you know they are done. This way you prevent over cooking or just forgetting about the appliance going on forever until you remember about it.

Can The GoWise 8-in-1 Cook?
You will not become Gordon Ramsay all of a sudden, but you don’t have to be an experienced cooker to get some nice meals done with an air fryer. There is a variety of recipes online and you can also get a recipe book alongside your machine. If you do get a recipe book, ideally you want to get a recipe book specifically for your device as sometimes the times vary from device to device and if you follow the recipes to the minute you might get some different results.
With time and experience with the device you can overcome those differences but if you are just beginning to use air fryers ideally stick to recipes for your device and check on your food often to see how its cooking. I guess you can figure out, yes, they can cook. From the usual French fries and crispy chicken wings to pizza to all sorts of deserts. There is quite a variety in the things you can cook with these machines.
The food that comes out is tasty however don’t expect to get the same taste that you would get from a deep fat fryer. Some people complain that French fries don’t have the exact same taste, which is to be expected considering that you don’t fry in an oil bath. The most important thing going in and buying the machine is to know what to expect from it. And all I have to say is: don’t expect an oil bath fryer. If you want fries drowned in oil get and oil bath fryer.
If you want to fry without heaps of oil this is a good machine that will do that among other things.
Setting and forgetting?! Like I said earlier, depending on what and how you cook sometimes you can just set and forget. If you bake something, for instance, then once the machine starts you can just walk away, mind your other stuff and when the machine is done it will stop itself and it will “beep” you to tell you “hey, I’m done!”
More or less you can do the same with other things as well but if you are doing French fries you might want to shake them around at least once to get them properly fried. Same with chicken wings, at the middle of the cooking process you want to turn them around to get them evenly on both sides.
Even though the way these machines operate makes hot air circulate very well inside the machine you will notice in most cases that the top part cooks more prominently and that is why you want to shake or turn things around for even cooking. But then again, in 15-minute cooking time you really only turn things around about half-way through, so you don’t need to just sit there 7 minutes doing nothing.

How Do You Use the GoWISE 8-in-1 Air Fryer?
Using the GoWISE Air Fryer is very simple. Prepare your ingredients, then simply open the drawer and set the food into the cooking basket. If you want to remove the cooking basket first to fill it, you can do this as well, then place into the drawer. Push the drawer closed then set your timer and temperature or choose one of the presets that matches your food. It’s that simple.

GoWise Airfryer Touch Screen
To set them up you notice from the pictures that you have a touchscreen on the front of the machine that might look intimidating at first. Actual buttons are only on the lower half. You have temperature controls on the left, timer controls on the right and in the middle, there is a power (start) button and a menu button that lets you select one of 8 presets.
The temperature on these go from 175F to 400F and the timer goes up to 30 minutes, which should be enough to cover most things you usually do with air fryers. You can select a preset and then adjust your temp and timer manually if you so desire. Press start. Wait. Done.

GoWISE 8-in-1 Cleaning
Cleaning the GoWISE Air Fryer is also very easy. Remove the drawer and the cooking basket, and either hand-wash or place these in the dishwasher. Both are dishwasher-safe. When the unit is cool, you can wipe down the inside of the rest of it. The outside is always cool to the touch and can be wiped down with a damp cloth and then a dry cloth to remove spots.
By the way, I see people complaining that the coating didn’t have a long file. Tip – don’t use metal cutlery inside them as much as possible because you will chip it off. Or at least be careful with it. I prefer using plastic or wood cutlery when dealing with coated pans and pots and the same with air fryers. I suggest you do the same if you want your nonstick coating to last.
Every once in a while, you might want to check and clean the inside of the machine and the heating element. Make sure the machine has cooled before any of this and just use a damp cloth or a brush for the heating element.

Are they worth the purchase? Yes. If you are looking for easy, healthy cooking with minimal mess these devices are worth a shot.
GoWISE USA 8-in-1 Electric Air Fryer Customer Reviews
“After researching the best air fryers, I chose this one (5.8 qt.) because it had all the features of the higher priced Philips but at a lower cost. It works great! I had a little trouble with the basket/drawer not sliding back in easily at first. That has been remedied now. I just wiggle it a little as I push it in. In order to try to prevent the coating from peeling/flaking off as several reviews have mentioned, I will not be spraying Pam on them.
Nor will I be cleaning them when they are still warm. Hand wash and put back in the machine to dry with the heat on for a few minutes. We will see how this machine holds up!! I also bought the cookbook titled Air Fry Everything by Meredith Laurence which has many helpful tips on the use and care of the machine as well as 130 recipes.” …. Read More
“We live in an RV, with limited counter space. Have seen all the infomercials, found this one on Amazon. This unit is a bit smaller than most of the other ‘air fryers’ out there, it says 2.7qt basket, sounds about right, at 4″ deep, and 7″ diameter, enough room to cook for two, families will want the bigger units though. My measurements show 12″ high, and about 10″ diameter around the middle, not including the handle.
When you hit the power button to start the cooking, the unit picks 370 degrees, and 15 minutes as a default, you just press the plus and minus buttons to set what you want, then power button again to start. I’m not a real recipe following guy, I tend to shoot from the hip, using whatever is at hand (raised three kids by myself, got pretty good at it). So here is my first few days with this sort of cooker.
First thing I tried were French fries, of course. I spiral-sliced thin curly-cues, shook in a bag with a tablespoon of oil, and some seasoning, popped in the basket, recipe said 20-25 minutes at 400. So, I set the timer at 10 minutes, and let it cook. At 10 minutes I opened the basket to shake the fries a bit, and something looked wrong, they were nearly done, already?? So, I shook them, set for 5 minutes more, at 350. I guess these were just cut too thin, because after 5 more minutes, they were very crispy brown potato sticks. None burned, just very, very thin. Note to self, reduce time on next item. Clean-up was just a wet paper towel to wipe basket and outer pan, very easy!
Next project was a couple of sandwiches. First, I defrosted a boneless-skinless chicken thigh, sliced a bit and placed on a small piece of tin foil, cooked for 3 minutes at 350, then placed some ham strips on top the chicken, 1 minute at 350, then some swiss cheese for another minute. The meat came out perfectly, just place bread on the meat, turned the basket upside down, and the sandwich was nearly done. Then I used a silicon spatula to lift the melted cheese off the outer pan bottom (it did not stick, just lifted out), and added it to the rest of the sandwich. All tasty and crisp, note to self, just place cheese on the meat, and place basket back in the cooker for a minute, it will melt without extra heat.
Second sandwich was ham and cheese in a sandwich roll. Trimmed a bit of crust off the top and bottom of the roll and buttered those surfaces. Placed sandwich in the basket, set for 300 degrees at 3minutes, and the sandwich came out perfect. Both sides crispy, meat and cheese cooked perfectly. Note to self, this cooks fast!
Next, was something I saw on the GoWise web site, pigs in a blanket. I used regular hot dogs, cut into thirds. Used a dough-in-a-can for the wrap and made a little cream cheese filling with finely chopped yellow pepper. Added the filling, dogs, and rolled each one up. Placed in the basket, set for 300 degrees at 6 minutes, done. Could have used 5 minutes, all was cooked perfectly, some of the rolls were a bit browner than I wanted, but very tasty.
Now a big test, my wife got one of those big Costco chicken pasta salads in a big foil pan, you know, bake for an hour type thing. But we didn’t have an hour, nor a giant oven, so, I dipped some of the pasta salad into a 6″ Pyrex dish, placed in the basket, set the temp at 350, time at 15 minutes. After done, thought it needed another 5 minutes at 300 degrees, and done. Done on the inside, crispy on the top, perfect.
While that was cooling, I thawed two chicken thighs and coated with a bit of olive oil, seasoning, and panko crumbs. Into the basket, 8 minutes at 350, turn over, 7 minutes more, and perfectly crispy chicken as good as any out of an oil fryer. It really worked.
My winging it didn’t cause disasters, it is very easy to work. But it does cook very fast, you will need to experiment with yours as they all might vary a bit. I will follow some recipes in the future, as I ordered a book to supplement the one that comes with the unit, need more ideas to wing it with 🙂 And all cooking episodes have cleaned up with just a wet paper towel, very easy.
I am very pleased with this unit.
Tonight, I will try fish, which needs little time to cook, so it will be a bit tricky for me to wing that, I might read a few recipes first.” …. Read More

GoWISE USA 8-in-1 Electric Air Fryer Review Verdict
The GoWISE 8-in-1 Air Fryer has a lot of advantages in the market to commend it. It is a smaller model than a lot of its competitors, thus taking up less counterspace. This air fryer seems best for people who wish to cook for one or two or for a small family, and people who want the versatility to be able to cook all their favorite fried dishes to perfection.
It is not suitable for stacked cooking as some of the other models may be. If you find that you are interested in a larger model, we suggest you see our review of the Philips XL Air Fryer.
That said, the advantages of owning a smaller air fryer include faster cooking times, lower profile, space in your kitchen, and the lower cost associated with a smaller machine. It also draws less power than larger models. And it has the available baking pan accessory, which makes it a bit more versatile than some of the competition.
We hope this article has given you the tools you need to compare air fryer models and to decide whether the GoWISE 8-in-1 electric air fryer is the right air fryer for you and your family.
